What is GX Developer-FX?
GX Developer-FX (or simply GX Developer) is a software product from Mitsubishi Electric that is supposed to be used in programming PLCs (programmable logic controllers) belonging to the MELSEC line. It has support for the line’s sequential function chart languages, its ladder diagrams, and its instruction lists. Products belonging to the QnA, System Q or QnAS series of MELSEC products can also have their function blocks programmed with the help of the program.
The main focus of the software, however, is arguably configuration of MELSEC products as opposed to special function programming for them. Its configuration-heavy operation means that users can save time they would otherwise have spent on programming by simply selecting configuration options that already exist in the software. Of course, users are also provided with diagnostic as well as surveillance tools that can help them test whether or not their configurations work as desired. GX Developer also comes with GX Simulator, an advanced simulation and testing tool that can be used offline. This can be used to help the user polish and finalize his program’s functions prior to actual implementation of them.
